Increasing interest to brain-computer interface technologies drives creation of various consumer-class devices for recording EEG or brainwave signal. One of examples of EEG recording devices available for affordable price is Emotiv EPOC neuroheadset. It is designed for making brain-computer interface to broad spectrum of consumers.

General idea behind brain-computer interface is that different mental states lead to different brainwave profiles. Thus, it is possible to determine if you are asleep or emotionally excited only from your EEG recording.

We extended this idea and supposed that it is possible to recognize which object or keyword you are being mentally focused on. Certainly, this is a very courageous assumption, but we believe that with emerging technologies in both EEG signal acquisition and signal processing this can become reality.

This website will allow you to conduct training experiments on recognizing image or keyword which you are focusing on. We will collect EEG profile database across population along with related keywords, and train our recognition engine. When we collect enough data, search experiments will become available.

Initially, training experiments are as simple as recognizing between relatively small number of objects. First, training with two objects is recommended. During training you will be presented a series of screens on which objects are displayed. You will be asked to concentrate on given objects, and youк EEG profile will be recorded. To test your ability to concentrate, we also provide special training experiments. During test experiments you will be again presented a series of objects, and your EEG will be recorded. Our recognition engine will assess how well you are able to reproduce mental state corresponding to training objects.

EEG recording is performed by Emotiv EPOC hardware and Firefox browser extension built with Emotiv SDK.

Currently only Windows platform is supported due to lack of SDK for Emotiv EPOC neuroheadset. As soon as Emotiv provide SDK for Mac/Linux platforms we will provide corresponding Firefox extension.

EEG profiles recorded during training sessions are transmitted via the network to our servers and stored in EEG database.
